I just read on the Painter forum Jerc's response to essentially the same question that people are having since the changeover from the buyout and the answer was disheartening. What is needed are official crystal clear facts that leave no room for interpretation. I don't want this happening again with Substance Designer and I want to ensure that I have the very last version as a fallback when I don't have a monthly I appreciate your enthusiasm, but what you say is based on deceiving information from the FAQ. I resent these kind of corporate decisions that have no room to consider their consumers' best interest. They took it off of Steam just before the sale. Then the Steam sale came around and it was on my list of things to purchase, but the product was nowhere to be found. I was a couple of versions behind and wasn't getting Steam notifications of the license changes because I didn't have the newest version. This happened to me with Marvelous Designer and I got screwed. This could mean that if I hold out and something changes with the license I can't retroactively buy the 2021 version. This problem is conflated because I don't know for sure if Adobe will cease sales or change the license to a subscription for 2022. I only say this because I can hold out for another 6 months without it if that means I can buy 2022 perpetual license on Steam. If Steam/Adobe doesn't honor the full one year that would mean that I threw away money that I really didn't have to.

I've got it in my cart but this is one reason I'm holding back. Otherwise you wouldn't actually get one year. One year of support infers that you get support from the date of purchase for one (1) year.
